What Is Spyware?Spyware is software that gathers information about a computer's user without their knowledge or permission. Spyware behaviours can include key logging and other information theft, as well as annoying pop-ups and browser redirection. Spyware is not usually classified as viruses for two reasons: the software does not attempt to spread itself automatically, and it does not intentionally destroy data or programs. How Can MailMarshal SMTP or WebMarshal Help?Integration of anti-spyware scanning with MailMarshal SMTP allows you to check for and stop spyware behaviours at the network boundary. This capability provides an added layer of protection beyond what desktop scanners can provide. MailMarshal 2006 SMTP and WebMarshal 2006 give you a choice of two well known anti-spyware scanners to scan email traffic or web traffic: PestPatrol and CounterSpy. These components are known as PestPatrol for Marshal and CounterSpy for Marshal. Reports give you the ability to review anti-spyware performance. The Marshal anti-spyware solutions include high-throughput DLL interfaces, integrated licensing, and customized upgrade components. You can use one or both. Your MailMarshal SMTP or WebMarshal trial includes licensing for these components. |

Integration with MailMarshal and WebMarshalMailMarshal and WebMarshal support integration with the CounterSpy anti-spyware solution from SunbeltSoftware and PestPatrol from CA eTrust. The products both provide high levels of spyware protection and accuracy. Both are offered an optional, add-on subscription service that can be used with MailMarshal and WebMarshal. They integrate with Marshal solutions in the same manner as with anti-virus products, scanning email and web content in real-time with no noticeable delay in performance. With MailMarshal, spyware-infected emails are automatically quarantined. Administrators or email users can be notified, and extensive reportingfeatures allow you to identify howspyware scanning is performing. With WebMarshal, spyware is identified as users browse the web and is automatically blocked. Downloaded files are scanned and cleared before being passed to the user. Infected files are automatically blocked before the user is able to unwittingly install the spyware.WebMarshal provides comprehensive reports on blocked spyware. |
