Simple in concept, but highly functional in deployment, Quest Archive Manager automatically captures email messages sent through your email server, and intelligently stores them in a single, centralised email archival and analysis system.

Quest Archive Manager supports Microsoft Exchange 5.5/2000/2003/2007, Novell Groupwise and IBM Lotus Domino providing a single archive for the entire organisation.

Quest Archive Manager requires no software installation on either the mail server or on the workstation clients.

Once stored, Quest Archive Manager provides easy access to these messages, allowing permitted users to search and retrieve their own messages, or for managers and administrators to search across the entire organisation.

How it Works

How Quest Archive Manager Works

Quest Archive Manager's 'Loosely Coupled' design ensures there is minimal impact on your existing mail environment. Quest Archive Manager features a flexible, open architecture using standard platforms and technologies.

Quest Archive Manager processes a copy of all messages sent through the enterprise email server, into and out of the organisation.

Once processed, the attributes and content of the messages are stored in a relational database, enabling the email metadata to be flexibly searched and reported on. The transfer to the repository is an automatic but highly structured process, ensuring that no email messages can be lost.

Attachments are stored within a compressed file system, utilising a single instance attachment store which minimizes disk usage. Only a single copy of any attachment is kept, regardless of how many messages contained the attachment.

By separating the content of the message from the attachment, the risk of an attachment-related virus infection is minimised and storage can be managed more effectively.

Access to the secure mail store is via standard web browser, allowing searching and rich reports. The application can also be hosted inside Outlook. Security settings ensure users are only able to access and view those messages which they have a right to access.

Quest Archive Manager interfaces with Active Directory and other directory solutions so all security rights are centrally managed.
