How does ScanSafe Work?
ScanSafe Connectors makes it simple to enable ScanSafe security for your organization, whatever your
network configuration. The Connectors facilitate the rapid
deployment of the services and add local network and user
granularity to policy application and reporting. Users behind
both static and dynamic IPs are able to connect to the managed
services through the Connectors, thereby broadening the coverage
of the security services to all areas of your business.
The Connector is a single piece of optimized Java code which is
installed only once and will give the administrator full
granularity of the service down to individual user level if
required. User privileges can then be setup by means of the
ScanSafe console to set policy, these can be linked in with
network user/computer directories, such as Active Directory.

SearchAhead™
SearchAhead™ is an early warning system that both
pro-actively enforces your Web filtering policies and keeps your
users from clicking on sites that contain malware, enhancing
both compliance and productivity. Ninety percent of new websites
visited in the office come from search engine results, as do
most Web filtering blocks and malware blocks. SearchAhead
analyzes results from major search engines and provides a
simple, easy to understand notification as to whether the
results are compliant with the organization's acceptable usage
policy. Operating invisibly to the end user, users search as
they normally would, be it directly or via a search toolbar.
The results then appear as they normally would, with the
exception of an indicator adjacent to the search result.
SearchAhead evaluates search result links in real-time against
the Web filtering policy in place for the given user, and
displays either a malware 'bug' or for Content Filtering a
green, yellow or red icon as a result.
Users can gain further information by pointing their mouse over
the selected icon as to why it received the corresponding block
icon.
SearchAhead empowers both end users and administrators by making
it easier to comply with acceptable use policies and at the same
time reducing the potential for accidental policy violations.
