Google Sites help DFID improve response

The Department for International Development (DFID) needed a more cost effective system for the collaboration and sharing of documents within a worldwide team. We partnered with DFID to introduce Google Sites, part of G Suite, and Chrome Browser. The solution increased the efficiency of DFID’s response to humanitarian crises, whilst decreasing their costs.

  • Initial migration of over 40 collaboration sites to Google Sites, part of G Suite, in under 2 months. Data was extracted from the previous system and loaded into templates created by Ancoris.
  • Google Sites are used to create workspaces where 400 members of staff and 1500 local partners can share and collaborate on information, wherever they are in the world
  • Sites can be set up quickly and because it is an intuitive tool, people don’t need much training to be able to use it.
  • A logistics site is used on a daily basis to manage the procurement and transfer of goods and equipment sent overseas, allowing speedier and more coordinated intervention.
  • Reduced costs as G Suite licence is only required for internal users, not external collaborators who can access the information free of charge.
  • Access to a range of other G Suite collaboration and communications features. Staff are now using Google Drive to share documents securely, Google Docs to create and edit documents together and Google Hangouts for video calls.
